Activity Description

  • The awesome sense of adventure and freedom is hard to beat, as are the views you will see at the top of each climbing conquest. It’s a sport that is sociable, challenging, technical and exhilarating, and will also help you get physically fit.

Physical health

  • Climbing is physically strenuous and requires good upper and lower body strength, flexibility and stamina.
  • Climbing develops excellent arm and upper body strength as well as boosting leg muscles and feet strength as your whole body works to get you up the cliff face.
  • Improves flexibility, agility, hand-eye co-ordination and, importantly, balance!
  • An excellent aerobic workout that will also build up stamina.

Mental Health and Well-being

  • Climbing is a great way to get on top of anxiety and depression.
  • Focusing on the climb refreshes and clears the mind from daily distractions.
  • Conquering the rock face will boost confidence and self-esteem and is a great stress reliever.

Rehab and Recovery

  • Always discuss any rehab or recovery plan with your health care provider.
  • Build fitness and personal confidence as you meet the challenge of climbing.
  • Even if you are fairly fit and strong, if you are inexperienced, be sure to start slowly and work your way up through the difficulty levels.

  • Get to know more about the truly hidden gems where you are living or visiting.
  • What a brilliant way of sharing unique and inspirational experiences with others as you look down and see the world beneath your feet!
  • If you enjoy sharing your climbing skills with others, think about gaining some qualifications so that you can volunteer or lead groups.

  • Going climbing for an afternoon can burn a phenomenal 1,600 calories.
